Following the Local Government Reorganisation in 1974  SCALBY URBAN DISTRICT COUNCIL was disbanded and absorbed into Scarborough Borough Council.

At the same time NEWBY and SCALBY PARISH COUNCIL came into being under the Chairmanship of F Clark with F Mellor as Parish Clerk. It covers the Civil Parish of Newby & Scalby which is divided into two wards – Newby ward and Scalby ward.

The Parish Council meets monthly. Meetings are usually the second WEDNESDAY of the month (no meeting in August) and begin at 7pm. For full details of the meeting dates please refer to the Meetings Section. There is a Public Open Forum near the beginning of the meeting where parishioners are welcome to speak on any matter which is giving them concern and is relevant to the parish.

All Parishioners are welcome to attend meetings.

Please note the Parish Council does NOT run the Community Hall. For all matters connected with the Community Hall (including bookings) please ring Scarborough 500699 or email newbyandscalbycommunityhall@btconnect.com
